Denise Pearson
Denise is a seasoned Business Psychologist, Coach and Facilitator with a strong interest in assessment, business coaching, development and personal growth along with expertise in psychometrics and leadership assessment. After a successful career in industry, she progressed to becoming an independent Business Psychologist working in the UK, Europe and Middle East. In consulting on human factors, individual behaviours and characteristics which can influence business success, her aim is to makes a discernible difference.
Professional Experience
Denise brings over 25 years’ experience of working with individuals and companies from an organisational and consultancy perspective. Over the past 11 years, she has placed her focus on using Business Psychology best practice to support and inform businesses. Her activities have included consultancy, interim support, large scale transformations, culture change, and developing talent at various levels within organisations. She has been involved in recruiting and supporting future talent; honing and developing existing leadership cohorts; and supporting businesses, individuals and teams during times of change and transition. She has designed and delivered recruitment and selection programmes and she coaches on a variety of topics to a wide spectrum of industries including Corporates, UK and Foreign Governments, Private and Public Sector, Education and SME.
Qualifications and Accreditations
Denise holds a first degree in Psychology, a Masters in Occupational Psychology, and Diploma in Marketing. She has also gained a Management Leadership Certificate from the IMD, in Switzerland. She is a Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Association of Business Psychology (ABP) with psychometrics expertise including WAVE, Hogan (HDS), NEO, 16PF, 360 Feedback, LJI and MBTI.
A Member of the BPS Association of Coaching and Special Group in Coaching, Denise completed formal training in coaching during her Masters. Her dissertation topic researched wellbeing and how organisations can embed wellbeing techniques into business routines. After her Masters, she completed research projects at UEL and later collaborated with her coaching tutor, Dr Jonathan Passmore, on the production of a coaching book designed to support those going through change and transition. Denise’s coaching approach is to bring academic rigour and business acumen to achieve successful outcomes.
Examples of Recent Assignments
Development of Future Leaders
Since 2018, Denise has worked with five cohorts (20+ individuals) on a leadership development programme designed to identify and facilitate the development of future leaders within the education sector. The project involves a diverse group of educators. These individuals on the “fast track” programme are expected to become CEOs. The project includes exploration of psychometric outputs, one-to-one coaching and the production of a personal report and action plan.
Coaching
Denise has recently completed a coaching project for a UNESCO organisation in Holland with a multi-national cohort. The participants attended three coaching support sessions. These sessions included psychometric exploration, discussions and exploration of 360 feedback, and the preparation of a personalised development plan.
Denise has worked, since 2008, on a global talent leadership project. Managers and Senior Leaders from all parts of the world have taken part in this project. To date, she has coached over 100 individuals. Her work is internet-based and uses bespoke sales-related psychometrics to support personal and business development.
Job Analysis and Competency Framework
Denise has recently designed and delivered new role profiles, an updated competency framework and in-house assessor training programme designed to support improved recruitment and a reduction in attrition at the early stages of recruitment. This project included job analysis and required strong stakeholder management skills.
Brexit Preparations
Over the past year, Denise has worked on several projects supporting UK Police, Local Authorities and Central Government in preparation for the UK’s exit from the European Union. This work has included the design and delivery of assessor best practice training, working on assessment centres and the production of management reports.
