Dr Terry Galvin
Terry is the Founder and Managing Director of Talent Management Global, and has gained considerable and diverse exposure to supporting organisations achieve lasting success through their people. Within all his consultancy interventions, Terry’s approach is characterised by genuine passion, conscientiousness and a pragmatic disposition coupled with enthusiasm, dedication, and a “can do” attitude. Whether operating at an individual or corporate level, he enjoys stimulating fresh insights and different thinking as well as encouraging others to experiment with new patterns of behaviour, often beyond their typical comfort zones.
Dubai based, Terry has worked for clients in the UK, US, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia, and is well-accustomed to interacting effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Professional Experience
Terry brings over 35 years of wide-ranging Business Psychology and Human Resources Management experience nurtured within both organisational and consultancy roles. Notable contributions have included assessment and development centres (design, delivery and direction); executive coaching; leadership development interventions; high potential programmes; senior level assessments; formulating and presenting bespoke management and leadership training modules; driving organisational and cultural change; and leading seminars, workshops and psychometric testing accreditation programmes.
In addition to being an advisor to many high profile public sector entities, he has served leaders of prominent global organisations within a multitude of industry sectors. He is also regularly called upon to contribute his expertise to the work of many leading International consultancies as well as that of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Qualifications and Accreditations
Terry received his PhD in Organisational Behaviour from the University of Bath (UK). He is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council. He is also a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, and Member of both the Association for Coaching and the BPS Special Group in Coaching Psychology. A BPS Register of Qualifications in Test Use (RQTU) accredited psychometric tester (occupational, ability and personality), he regularly utilises within his work selections from a broad range of psychometric instruments.

Assessment and Development Centres
Terry has recently led and been engaged in a range of Assessment and Development Centres held at a numerous global locations and directed towards participants operating at management and leadership levels within a variety of industry sectors. Such work has frequently necessitated the design of bespoke exercises and activities.
Leadership Talent Audit
As part of a succession planning initiative being undertaken by a high profile global organisation, Terry undertook a detailed Leadership Talent Audit, utilising a comprehensive battery of psychometric tests, with the objective of identifying individuals of high potential for progression into senior level appointments. In also discovering leadership skills gaps and deficiencies in related competencies, he worked with the individuals, their managers and HR representatives to construct Personal Development Plans incorporating recommended training and development to prepare these individuals for future senior roles.
360° Based Development Coaching
For successive years, Terry has supported a market-leading international hospitality group in the development of its top-level personnel. Using 360° feedback as a foundation, he has delivered development-focused coaching sessions both face-to-face and virtually. Participants within this initiative have included CEO and other C Suite members, Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents and those responsible for the local management of the group’s global chain of luxury hotels and resorts.
Senior Level Assessment
In order to inform clients’ recruitment and promotion decision making, Terry has recently conducted candidate assessments for appointments including COO and CEO. A particularly noteworthy achievement was his design and delivery of an Assessment Centre for the selection of Court Judges; the first of its kind within the Middle East and apparently the second worldwide.
Coaching
Terry has recently undertaken a range of successful coaching programmes directed towards improving the performance and potential of senior personnel. He is also very active in coaching Emirati HiPo’s within several government entities within the UAE. Significant within the context of his coaching responsibilities has been the one-to-one and group development work he undertook with the CEO and other members of the Executive Team of a major oil and gas company.
Management Development
Against the background of an identified need for development of specific interpersonal relationship skills, Terry designed a dedicated workshop for Hotel General Managers of a leading global hospitality group. After a very well-received pilot within the Middle East, this development initiative was rolled out worldwide.
